I had a white paper sticker from the factory up near the bow of the boat, and I tried to peel the dumb thing off. It left torn paper and adhesive behind...looked terrible.

Someone suggested Goo-Gone, or some such thing. I tried WD-40 but that didn't work.

So, the other day I was filling up the lawn mower and accidentally over-filled the tank (sort of like when you go to take a sip out of a glass of ice water and the ice shifts). I wiped up the excess with a rag, but then I got the bright idea to try to remove the sticker with the gas soaked rag. It worked! I immediately wiped the paint clean with a soapy sponge, and there is no visible damage to the finish.

I doubt this would work on gelcoat, but it worked on a painted aluminum hull. Just thought I should share this hard earned bit of knowledge.

(By the way, how long does it take for eyebrows to grow back after they've been singed off?)

MoFish,

You could have used Avon Skin-So-Soft bath oil warmed up...that would have taken the skicky stuff off without harming the finish. (It also takes tar and bugs off the front of your vehicle)

Thanks, Carli! I'll buy some....(for my wife....yeah....that will explain that credit card receipt. I wonder what other "stuff" "she" needs?)
