I think my cable for the steering snapped. As I was ready to go home, I turned the wheel and it locked up. I gave it a turn and heard the cable snap, or some kind of snapping noise.

Could any of you help me fix this?

step-by-step or just a view of what to do

Thanks!

Tom

Go with baystar hydraulic steering. That's what I did before my cable broke. I had the motor to high for the cable without re-routing it. Drives like a different boat with the Baystar.

I understand that it's not too tough to change out a cable. You need to make sure the length is correct. I personally don't think hydraulic is necessary on a 640.

I had to replace the cable on my 640. I bought the single back rack, 14'. You only need a 12' unit. It's not difficult to replace, but you have to remove the motor. I'd happily give you a step by step if you need one, but I don't think you will.

You don't need hydraulic steering on a 640...don't waste your money.
