I am thinking of purchasing a new targa 17. I have never owned an aluminum boat currently use my dad's triton 17 foot boat. I have read several love or hate messages about tracker boats. Do any of you have any reservations about tracker boats. Leaks, etc.

GWeaver,

I'm a Targa 18 owner, about 2 1/2 years now. I have no reservations on mine. Love it - most of the time. There are times that I want more deck space, and having not to see it blowing like a kite in the wind, but most of the time I like it fine.

The Targa's are welded, therefore not the hassles and/or problems that any riveted boat will have over time. I used the boat approximately 25-20 outings this year.

Also, do a search on the general subject of 'performance'. A number of us have posted long performance messages for different boats, both Glass and Tin. Mine is out there.

I have a Targa V17, 60hp Merc with the windshield. It's a great boat, no leaks and no engine problems. It's a heavy boat, put as big an engine you can afford to if you want any speed out of it, but otherwise it's a great rig.

I've never even been to West Virginia. Can't help there.

Okay guys and gals, dealership recommendations?

Contact Marke at BPS in Michigan he will fix you up..I don't recomend Bowers Marine in PA. But other than that Good Luck.

I totally agree with Bruce - avoid Bower's Marine if at all possible. Too many horror stories (I'm one of them).

The drive to Detroit is beautiful this time of year. And I'm sure Marke would be happy to get you set up right.

Or, if Marke is too far away, Bob Bourget at Marine USA in Worcester, Massachussetts. ([email protected]) Both are members of this board and have exceptional reputations!

Running a Rivited 2000 PC 175 with ZERO leaks and great service! Like everyone said the Dealer is the key!
