I just purchased a new 2009 Nitro X-4 with Mercury 115 OptiMax. If anyone have any suggestions or experience (good or bad) about the boat. This is my first bass boat, as I have been a saltwater fisherman all my life (60+ years). I would appreciate any and all help.

i've sold a few of that model and the best pointer i can give your about that boat in particular is to move your trolling battery or batteries to the bow. there is space and your boat will be much better balanced.

almost all the x-boats had come back with customer complaints bout slow plaining and porposing.

we tried several solutions from props, hydrofoils, finaly it was clear that the best solution was to simply move the batteries.

this lifted the stern of the boat and allowed the boat to ride properly.

it also helped with the slow planing with the weight added to the bow bringing the bow down sooner and not plowing water.

Thanks everyone! Joe that great advice, its mean I'll have to rewire the charger system, but by shorting the trolling motor cable it will cause less draw on the battery. Do you still thing I'll have the planning problem with the larger 115 engine?



Bad news I went to pickup my new boat and found the bilge pump, recirculation pump, live-well fill pumps, nav light, horn, and trailer lights all NOT WORKING, also there a crack in my right storage locker. Beginning to wonder if I got such a good deal, or they got rid of a lemon.

none of those things will work if the master power switch on the dash is in the off position. that issue is minor even if it's not the switch, connections,fuse,simple oversite.

but the in the storage locker might cause me some aprehension.
