Ok guys, I need some help here. I have a 1989 Tracker TX17. The steering has been getting tighter over the last year. Last night I was in the garage and tried to turn the wheel and it wouldn't turn. I kept tugging at it and heard a pop. Then the steering wheel turned freely but the motor did not. I assume I broke the steering cable.

1. Has anyone ever replaced one of these? How hard is it?

2. Where could I find one?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Relatively simple to replace...

Cables are around <$150. It is disconnected from the helm and the motor and used to pull the new cable (usually fron the front to the back). I plan three hours, 12 beers and four bandaids. Not necessarily in that order.

I think there is a video on You Tube... I'll look around.

Good luck.

Nothing good ever comes from operating a boat on dry land. :D:wacko::lol::wacko::lol:
