I'm getting ready to go home and spend a couple of more hours with my boy, then it's off to the airport.

We had a great holiday, and he said to tell everyone "thanx" for your inquiries and well-wishes.

Where's he going, Ken? Is he still in AIT or is he PCS'ing?

All this war talk has me fired up. My brother's cav unit is at my old stomping ground in Korea, Camp Casey. 3rd ID, the unit I went to Desert Storm with, is going back to Camp Doha, Kuwait (the city we built before leaving after the war).

Feel like I'm missing out on something. Wish your boy well and be proud of his service.

He's got 4 more weeks of AIT at Ft. Leonardwood, then he's off to Ft. Campbell and the 101st Airborne to be cross trained in Airborne Assault....then odds are he'll be deployed overseas shortly thereafter.

I guess he's an engineer then??

Ft. Campbell is the best Air-Assault school in the country, bar none. Remind him, though, that he's still a leg. He must cut the umbilical to be a real man!! As soon as he PCS', tell him to volunteer for Ranger school and they'll send him to RIP and Airborne school (if he gets a slot).

He's Chemical Corp....he's thinking about Ranger school...he's gonna look into it once he settles in.

Ranger School....cool....I'll give him one of my new hats!!

ahahhaahahah......

Yeah, tell him to go ranger school, then when he's in Ft Walton Beach, FL for training, you can transfer to the new BPS in Destin. Then you could spend plenty of time w/ him.................sa

Ahhh...forgot the Chem Corp moved to FLW. Don't know if they get slots for Ranger school. The three times I went (slow learner) there were only infantry, armor, engineer and a couple of aviation officers.

O' well, that's still a ways off if he's still in AIT. Wish him luck for us and tell him not to breathe too deep...

Ranger? FLW? I thought we were talking war games not fishing!

Ken,

I'm glad to hear he's doing well and liking it. I wish him the best. And, we're proud of "one of our own"... He'll stay in our prayers.

Greg

I'll echo Greg's prayers, Ken.

Having been in my late-teens and early-20's during Viet Nam, all the goings on right now have me shaking..... I hope your son never, ever gets the chance to find out what war is all about.....

Let's just hope that he gets the most from the training and that it prepares him well for future life!

God bless!

me!
