motor warning alarm

A month ago I replaced the ignition switch because it was sticking.Ever since then I get a

"chirp" noise once I shift into gear.It happens about 60% of the time and it is a very short

single or double chirp-not a regular beep tone.Any ideas what is causing that?Also, is the

warning sounder actually in the ignition switch? I have a '96 Nitro 170DC with a 75 hp Merc.

Not sure why the alarm is sounding when you put it in gear. On My 1993 with as Johnson the alarm is seperate from the ignition switch.
