At the launching post I got to thinking about my most painfull trip to a lake. This was a trip to Lake Conowingo almost 30 years ago. I took my Dads 14ft wards seaking boat and trailer and headed for the lake. 3/4 of the way there I had a tire failure on the trailer, so I put on the spare and headed down the road. A couple of miles later I had a bearing failure and the wheel and hub went there own way. After asking permission I left the boat and trailer in a yard and went back to get my car trailer to pick them up. We loaded the boat and trailer on the car trailer and went to the ramp. Unloaded the boat by hand and went fishing.. I don't remember if we caught anything or not but I do remember what lack of maint cost.

We had a guy in my bass club that put in his boat - I think it was North Bend Ramp at Kerr. He was by himself, or didn't have help, so he "tied" his boat off to the trailer or truck, and backed in. As the boat was sliding into the water, he noticed the rope had become "untied" from it's original location, so he threw his truck in Park (Neutral actually), and jumped out to grab the rope.... only to watch the trailer and truck slide into the water at Kerr Reservoir. Now THAT is a bad day... don't cha' think? :p

All the best,

Glenn

Not as bad as a guy my dad used to work with. The guy had just bought a brand new bass boat and a brand new truck to match. He was having his wife back him down the ramp while he was in the boat. She backed down the ramp and he backed the boat off of the trailer. He yelled for her to pull out and she tried....without shifting the truck to drive. When she finally got the truck stopped, the hood was completely underwater. And to make matters worse, she panicked and shut the truck off!!!
