Several years ago, my wife and I were involved in a Couples Bass Club here in the Carolinas. One of the couples we met and socialized with (Jim and Mary Storch), we grew to have a nice friendship with. We shared a cottage on a weekend trip once, and have been over to see/visit with them several times, even though the couples club did not survive.

He taught me more than one thing about fishing (techniques) and also provided me with one of the most interesting top water baits that I have (I'll have to dig one out and take a picture of it later).

Several years ago, Jim was diagnosed with cancer of the liver. He has been up and down with it (and the treatments), but he was able to return to work last year and was doing better. As is usually the case, the illness came back once again, and during the last week, he went downhill quickly. Got a call yesterday, that he had passed away.

While not the dearest friend that I have; and also not one that I knew the longest, Jim was just one of those folks that you really enjoyed sharing a boat with - yours or his. Even when we would get skunked. One of my fondest memories of Jim will always be Christmas before last at their house, when he spent over an hour showing me his personal collection of 'Official Boy Scout Knives'. I'm sure that his son will appreciate the memories that it will bring him of his Dad.

Just really wanted to pay a little tribute, to one of the better people that I have known in my time. I'm better off for having known him, and will miss not being able to share a boat with him in the future.

I applaud his life, and his friendship to me. Tight lines and rest easy - Jim.

:(:)

Sorry to here that Tex....

I too lost a friend over the weeknd due to a motorcycle accident....34 years young..shame:(

It has been my experience that this sport of ours is very good at connecting us up with "good people"... I am amazed at the quality and qnatity of the friends I have made here... So, when you, as you did, find a person to share this sport and good times with, it is special... I am sorry for your loss and my sympathies to you and his family and friends... While it was shorter than we'd all like... It sounds like your friend had a rich and fulfilling life... Lots of folks never do get what we share... He was one of the lucky ones to have enjoyed his life and been a good friend. May Giod Bless him and his family. Share your good memories of him with his family, they will thank you.

Awww geeee...I'm so sorry to hear this Tex. It's really tough when one of the good ones passes. I will say a prayer for him, you and his family. You too Tee, I'm so very sorry.

Tex - Sorry to hear about it, think of the good things and that if you didn't fish you'd never have had a chance to share in his life.
