I have had problems ever since I traded my 700LX for my new 188 sport last October with the level tubes in the livewells getting knocked out by the bass I put in them. I have come to believe that this is the worst system for keeping the level of water in livewells at the correct depth. I almost lost a 7.53 lb. bass to this ill concieved system, it knocked the tube out of the hole and all the water drained out of the livewell as I was heading to the weigh-in, then it was dry for several minutes on a very hot day as we waited for the weigh-in to start, it took me fifteen minutes to revive the fish when I released it. I also lost 2 bass on the river when I looked in the live well and saw water then made a long run up river after fishing a spot for an hour or so I checked my fish and they were dead and the livewell tube was knocked out.

I believe I have come up with a solution to this problem and I hope it helps anyone else having this problem. I have taken the rubber clamps that hold the bow light in place under the front compartment lid and mounted them in the livewells so that when I put the tube in the hole I can press it into the clamp at the top of the tub. This should be more than strong enough to hold it in place even if a big bass is getting restless n the livewell. I do believe that Tracker needs to rethink this method of keeping water in the livewells, or they should install these rubber clamps from the factory.

Ron,

I have the same system in the bow livewell of my Tracker. It has always been a concern, but never a problem. I like your solution. Unfortunately, my tube is too far out from the side for it to work easily. However, I am going to look into mounting a short "L brace" with the clamp at the end out from the underside of the deck inside the livewell. With a little additional engineering I, too, should have a solution. Thanks. It's a very good idea.

Ron - Do a search on "Livewell" on this site, you'll see one from slsail on 4/13/2002 at 21:05 ET. In this post you'll see other suggestions that folks have used, primarily extending the PVC tube to the top of the livewell lid to hold it in with a t to allow water to expell into the livewell.
