Livewell pump question

I own a 2001 Deep V 17. Last night when putting the cover on I must have hit the livewell switch. I found the pump on this morning. Did I do damage? What type of pump is in there? Can they run dry? help.

If it still runs it ought to be ok. You can burn the motor up letting the pump run dry overnight. You'll find out on the next outting that's for sure.
