Hi friends; For those who either find it necessary to jack up a Nitro single-axle trailer or do so for winter storage to get the tires off the surface, we found a great Jack.
We always put a support under the Axle/springs of our Nitro trailer each winter. We had a 20T bottle jack which involved shims under and on top of the jack right under the Axle on each side, close to the Springs, jacking the Axle up, putting concrete blocks and various shims under the Axle/spring bolts etc etc removing the Jack and doing the other side. Then in the Spring of the year reversing the procedure. Gaaah!
Thought that this year we would try something different.
We purchased a Set of two Torin, Big Red, 1.5 Ton Scissors jacks, like $22 each at Menards. The retracted Jack slid right under the Axle /spring Bolts without any shims. Like 3 inch height retracted Jack, 15 inch extended. The width and length of the Flat on top of the Jack scissors fits perfectly on the Axle/spring Bolts Plate, between the two Bolt ends and nuts. No shim required. We used the Jack Crank and raised the Axle so the Tires just cleared the surface. Little hard the last turn or two.
Will carry one of these Scissors Jacks in the truck rather than the Bottle Jack for emergency use on the road for possible trailer-tire changes.
