I am considering putting a jack plate on my 1996 Nitro 180TF. The motor is a 115hp Mariner. Will I see much performance increase? Any recommendations for or against is appreciated. I don't know much about them so if anyone can tell me what to expect (or not) will help alot and/or any recommendations.:unsure:

Tommy - I have one on my '99 700lx 115 Merc (prior owner, this site owner Rich, put it on before I bought it), it does allow the boat to be tuned better, I get no chinewalk at WOT, allowed me to play with the set up, and with a HotFoot and Pro Trim she is the cats meow! But, I would ask what you think you want to achieve, usualy if its speed or holeshot the right prop is the first place to start.

i have a 98 800lxs w/ a 115 merc. the boat was unruly,porpoised,and chine walked.

the motor was too deep. i put a 8" slidemaster on it and set the motor height to 3.25 in.

below the pad. it is like a new boat-rides smoother, more top speed (3 mph)no

chinewalking and doesn't need a planeing aid any more.

a 4" to 6" may be better for your boat.

good luck
