It's not just Tracker Marine or its dealers

When a factory - any factory - receives a properly written "build order", they very seldom make all those mistakes. Maybe one or two; but things are usually right on the money.....

My bet is that when the dealer placed the original order, he wasn't at all happy with the delivery date. (Wanted his bux asap.) So, he took one that was already set up at the factory, on it's way to another dealer, and decided that he'd "convince" the customer that this boat would do "just fine"..... All the while, placing the blame on the manufacturer.

And, we were always led to believe that Dealer Donkeys were all branded "Nitro/Tracker"...See, son, you can't believe everything you read on the internet... Even the Ranger family has its black sheep...

Betcha...I know where you can get a "deal" on a fully rigged Ranger "Demo" boat....Sounds like somebody was trying to play fast and loose...That boat could have been sitting somewhere or ,likely, as Scott says, was a cancelled in production deal from the factory to their dealers...

I agree that this doesn't sound like it was a problem centralized at Genmar/Ranger. It seemed to me that the dealer dropped the ball (whether intentionally or unintentionally, it doesn't matter to the buyer).

Isn't it somewhat humerous, though, to see the same dealer vs. manufacturer "who owns the problem" issues with another boat manufacturer? I think these kinds of issues are indemic to the whole bass boat industry.

Someone on another board also pointed out another reason why Tracker Marine has a not-so-envious quality control and customer service reputation. Tracker markets most of their boats at the entry-level, first-time boat owner. Could it be that first-time boat owners, as a group, have a higher incidence of problems (service, maintenance, repair) than those with experience? And, once they make all their mistakes and are ready to upgrade to another boat, they blame Tracker for their problems and jump ship to a different manufacturer. Then, once they have their second boat, they do things right (or better) and have fewer problems. Thus, the second boat is "Better" than their %"$#&%^ Tracker/Nitro!"

This doesn't cover all owners or types of problems, but it made me think about my own approach to use, service and maintenance as a first time NEW boat owner.

Gosh I thought those other boats were perfect and so were the dealers. My bubble is broken.

I agree that most problems arise from the dealer. However, as soon as the factory is made aware of a problem, either via the dealer or the buyer, it's the factory's ultimate responsibility to follow up on the outcome and do everything within reason ( and sometimes beyond reason) to assure that the customer has been delt with in a prompt and professional manner. The dealer blaming the factory and the factory blaming the dealer just doesn't cut it. Tracker Marine isn't the only one that screws up, the rest of them do also.

Yeah it's always a toss up, anyone can get screwed by dealers....boat dealers, car dealers, gun dealers, whatever. I think MOFish has a extremely valid point with the 1st time boat buyers view.................sa
