Is it normal for a service shop to service a boat and return it filthy? My boat was returned to me with rust stains and metal chips everywhere, live well, buldge, carpet and still not fixed right. What can I do? I picked it up yesterday after about 30 days and took it back today.

CAN YOU TRUST YOUR TRACKER SERVICE CENTER ???? I DON'T !!

Charlie,

Remember, each dealer is independantly owned and operated. I can assure you that our shop would never return a boat like that. My old dealer back home in NH has given me nothing but out standing service.

It sounds like you need to start searching for another dealer in your area. Make sure to fill out a "Dealer Report Card" in the menu on the left hand side of this board.

Good luck,

Marke

Charlie, as I replied in your post about the warped fuel tank:

"Personally, if everything is as you say, then I think you got piss-poor service from the Dealer.

"Post his name here. He'll find out immediately what it means to do shoddy work in today's market with the availability of the internet.

"The TV-18 is a wonderful boat!

He should have seen to it that you have the opportunity to experience it at it's best!"

Charlie - Have had nothing but STELLER service from the Tracker/BPS store here in Atlanta. They always put my cover back on when it's stored outside and ready for return to me. They've fixed NON-Warranty items for FREE, always take the boat in on appointment as promised and call me when it's done. They also call the next week to check on my satisfaction, every time!

I hate to see ANYONE have this much trouble with a boat and a dealer, but i've got to say this sound 99% like Dealer problems!

I also have to say I'd lay your problems at the feet of your dealer. I actually have two dealers - BPS in Springfield, which sold me the boat, and The Fishin' Hole here in St. Louis which is only ten minutes from my house. Both dealerships have been very responsive. BPS sent me a replacement steering wheel cover after mine blew off, and The Fishin' Hole has done all of my repair work.

I would recommend that you file a complaint with your local Better Business Bureau. You can learn more about how they can help people in your situation here:

Charlie,

On one hand, I would say NO - they don't operate that way. It shouldn't be expected. On the other hand . . . .

Used to be that the big guys would get you, so you went to the little guys. I'm almost convinced it's the other way around now.

Best of luck. Not something pleasant to deal with.

I wish I could sell this boat But unfortunately I would have to take a loss of about $6K and it is only 1 year old. and like I said I do like this boat but I think the quality of the components used could be of at least good quality and the same for the two dealer service centers. Just to make a point if you take a look at most of the tracker boats and really look at the components, they are all just the cheapest you can find..... all the way up to the trolling motor and depth finder (on a new avalanche it is a $80 humming bird) I love the style, all welded, deep v and ride, but if you knew what I have been through you would understand.....isn't that right sandy? I just want a good boat and there is nothing I can do about the deprecation. So I hope it is correct when I get it back this time and as far as the dealer that worked on it last I think that it would un fair to slam him just yet he has my boat and I do want it back :) and I will tell you all that the sale and first service was with Dusty Rhodes in TX and the job the tech. did on the boat was down right ugly. OK now if you want to hear more just let me know I have had 1 full year of Tracker experience that I hope you guys don't experience in the life of your tracker. Feel free to take a gander at some of the photos of my gripes

I am so sorry that you had this experience.....

Even though I have had excellent luck with the two Nitro's I have owned, stories like this have an accumulative effect.

And the old adage about "one bad apple spoils the whole bunch" does apply. This one dealer's actions will carry over to the reputation of Tracker and all their GOOD Dealers.....
