I write for Bass West Magazine and need your help on my next article.

I want to do an article about TV fishing shows. It sure looks like it would be easy...atleast from your favorite spot on the couch! I want to take a look at the inside of a TV fishing show and write about what it takes to really make it happen. Time, money, videographers, producers, buying air time, selling ads...the list is long I am sure.

If anyone should know the insides of TV fishing shows, or knows someone who will, would you please respond via this forum or by calling me.

Kindest regards,

Come to www.texasfishinginfo.com and look up Charlie. He does this type of work, not on a grand scale, but he's made fishing videos for sale.

Ya gotta say something about the way Bill Dance drags those bass back and forth beside the boat just before he thumbs them. What motivates that move? More than likely he/they (the producers) think it adds to the excitement. It just makes me wanna barf and I turn to the golf channel.

this is the probably the only chance I will get to comment on ol' Bill...thanks

I agree but let's not forget, he has the following credits:

A member of the International Fishing Hall of Fame

23 National Bass Titles

8-Time Bass Master Classic Qualifier

3-Time B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year (1969,1974, 1977)

1978 Congressional National Water Safety Award

1986 National Freshwater Hall of Fame

Biggest fish was a 13 lb. 2 oz. Largemouth Bass.

Wrote seven (7) fishing books plus many articles in major outdoor magazines

Spokesperson for at least 25 companies and organizations

I have seen him fish the Mississippi for cats and some other large Southern Lakes for crappie. Most if not all of the TV fishermen get help on lures, locations, and when the fish are "on". He does have private ponds and could probably catch 5lb bass on most any lure but hey, that's entertainment. What you you be saying if a TV fisherman fished like most of us and got a gook smelly skunking!! LOL Watched "Mr. Excuses" Joe Thomas last night. Although more true to life he get's his hat handed to him a LOT. Watched him go into a canal area in florida and catch bank running dinks......and he was happy for them!!

Yep, you are 100% right. He does it for the TV and the viewers and the sponsors and the mega paycheck!! That's why I wonder how long Joe will last, especially with a sponsor like LuckyCraft. The guy is probably a better fisherman than I ever will be but he has bombed on TV. I mean who wants to watch someone throw lures for 1/2 hour!! LOL
