Bean--
I mostly had it on two lakes, one was 450 acres and the other was 1200 acres with heavy traffic on both. Several times I had wakes come over the back but we are talking big wakes from 25-30 footers doing slow laps around me. However, I hear the new model possibly has thicker metal and is welded which can only help with durability while running in the waves. Mine would slap the waves pretty hard so I ran slow which may have contributed to catching those waves over the back.
As far as wind goes you will find that the SG14 has very low sides compared to the bigger SG's. I would say they are just as low to the water as the Mod V boats or very close. So, wind was never much of a problem so long as you keep the big motor down as a rudder, the waves were more of a concern than anything and if you are fairly experienced you can overcome that.
Hope this helps...if you are on smaller bodies of water or somehow found a low traffic lake I would highly recommend it. I had a 45# Minn Kota and two Garmin 240's on mine. The Minn Kota was plenty powerful.
