My father-in-law stopped by to pick up my broken rod and a reel I need to have tuned up. He was down pulling duty at the Boy Scout lake this weekend.
On Saturday, using FOUR POUND TEST, he caught a 21-inch, 7 1/2 pound largemouth! That's bigger than any I've ever caught (but two pounds shy of the one his son caught). Bait was a 4-inch Plum Glitter slider worm fished Texas rigged on a 1/4 ounce Slider hook.
He said his partner (Ray) just about fell over himself trying to get his own lure reeled in and the landing net out.
I'm so happy for him, especially after I've witnessed him lose a couple like that trying to lift the fish over the gunwale - on FOUR POUND TEST! Oh, and then there was the one he tried to lip, but ended up losing because he touched the line with the lit end of his cigar.
He said that this one is going on his wall.
