Ken,

THe trailer bunks on my 901 do not "line up" the way I think they should.

On one side (boat passenger's) You can clearly see a large gap between the front of all 3 bunks and the boat itself. (large enough you can actually put your hand between the bunk and the boat) This is not just at the very tips, but goes back 1/3 to 1/2 of the length of the boat. When you drive, you can see the boat lift away from the bunks on this side. The short bunk probably only has a foot of actual contact with the boat bottom.

The dealer has agreed to get this repaired, (he agrees that it isn't "right") and the description of the planned repair is that the shop will raise the front "posts" appropriately so that it all lines up.

I got to thinking today, that how do I (or they) know which end of the bunks actually need "adjusting", it could be that the back is to high, the opposite side is to high, etc.

My question(s) for you:

1. Are there specs available for the trailer, so that when I take it back to the dealer I can have them ensure that all of the measurements are right? If so, How do I get them?

2. In your opinion, is this a proper way to repair it? (they plan to cut the welds of the existing "stands" and move them up and reweld them.)

Thanks for all your help!

There are no specs, and this is a rare occurence, but I have seen it twice this year on 9 series trailers. What they are proposing is an accepted repair...if they do it right, they will measure everything BEFORE re-welding.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM ON MY 2002 896 and it dident load well at all, took it to BPS in GA thay said it was normal. none of the boats in the past had this problem so i had some shims made and longer bolts and i put them under the bunks and raised them. loads better but still needs to be raised up some more. i think the part that the wintch is conected to is for a bigger or smaller boat

Rabbit,

In front of the winch there is a "V" shaped rubber bow stop, not the winch roller, but a seperate piece. You should have at least an inch or so of room to move that towards the rear of the trailer, enabling the bow to hit that first, and lift it up onto the winch roller when loading.

Thanks Ken...

It's to bad there aren't some kind of "specs" available, that way I could give the shop some guidance.

And what Rabbit says is true, loading with the bunks uneven is a pain at best...

After they fix it, adjust that "V" bunk like I said above...

But I don't have a "V Stop"... just the wench roller thingy...

Also, you know those "caps" that fit the seat pedastal holes? Know where I can get a couple of extras? (see my post on "dry" storage) We rarely take our pedastal seats with us, so these holes are aggervating....

Thanks!
