I have a Z-6 and am thinking of going with a hand control troll motor. Has anyone made this change and would like to know if you are happy with the change. My concern is the ability to get close enough because of the recessed foot control area in the front. Thanks, kenny

Cut a piece of 2"X8" (or 2"X10" if needed for a better fit) the size of your recess and carpet the block with a piece of matching carpet from your dealer. (You can put a piece of industrial Velcro on the bottom to keep it in place and remove when you want.) With that piece in place your void is filled and a bit more deck room is added should you want to reach out for a hand control TM. Good luck! ;)

I have operated other person's boats that had a hand control bow motor. NO THANKS

I'd rather be fishing than boat driving.

90% of the salt or flats fishermen I knew when I was in Florida all used hand control. 99% of the Bass fishermen that I know all use the foot control. Maybe we can get Bill to chime in on why he went with a hand control. The main reason I always got was that the hand control was better in current/tide. As for the recess if you change over, Dan has it pegged and you can also get an extension for the hand control to get it a longer reaching farther back on the deck.
