Guys - Beka last weekend figured out Skype video conferencing. FREE PC to PC, just go to walmart on Sunday for $10 get a USB webcam, and have your family get one! Sign up at Skype and that easy! The last 2 weeks have been tough with my family back in the states and me here for 3 more months ( will see them for a week at Labor day - Disney!!) but every morning and evening to see them live and hear them ,with the dog and new puppy is great!! Give me the strength to keep going knowing its only 6 weeks till i see them again!

I don't know how CIII and our other Military families do longer assignments away, but the technology is here, cheap, easy and it works!!!

Its 10:30 Fri night here, gonna grab a few more beers and sleep, talking via Skpye voice/video with the kids in 10 hours!

Miss all of ya, can't wait to get back and FISH!!!

You can also do this with yahoo messenger. And it's free except for the web cam. I did this while on deployment to Sicily and it was the best.

what MeBassn said! it was nice talking to you and take care.See you back in Ga when you decide to come home

Be sure to check out Skype! I've been using it almost three years now. For 3 bucks a month, unlimited calling in the USA, conference calls for up to seven people at a time, the benefits go on. Check it out.

Doesn't the person you want to talk to have to have his computer on and 'Skype' running

when you call to talk? So to video talk to my brother in Arkansas wouldn't I have to call him first and tell him to turn all that stuff on and then re-call him?

Uncle Billy - Yes you are right both computers have to be on - signed into skype for it to work. BUT - 1) you have voice mail, so if you leave your brother a message saying "i'll call you back at 9PM" on his skype account he'll know. 2) what we do is "schedule" the time since the cost of calls to/from china is so much AND were 12 hours ahead here, 8AM my time is 8PM in Atlanta so I talk to the family before they go to bed while i'm ready to go to the office, and same thing 12 hours later.

A little inconvienience, and if I lived in the US, i'd use the "free" longdistance on my cell phone on the weekend, but for overseas its GREAT!
