Well like I posted on Friday I took the boat out for the first time Saturday with Jim Browne. We thought that we might get a bass or two if we were lucky . launched around 11 in the morning the water temp was around 48 and there was a strong wind blowing I figured that a jerkbait might work and we both had new flipping sticks we wanted to play with, as a afterthought I had tied on a flat A crankbait . We got to an area where we usually start ,threw the jerkbait a for a while then picked up the rod with the crankbait then to my surprise after a few casts a decent bass nailed it . Now it has always happned to me in the past if I catch a nice fish the first time out during the season the rest of the year sucks for me. It may sound like a wierd superstition but every time this happens I have a bad year. So as I'm bringing in this fish I'm yelling that i'm screwed for the year. about five minutes later Jim nails a real nice fish over 4 pounds now he's yellling he's screwed too. To make a long story short we're both really screwed because we ended the day with me catching 6 bass the largest being a shade over 5 pounds and one 5 pound hybrid and Juim getting 3 bass the largest being over 4 pounds and 6 hybrid biggest was over 6 pounds. All the fish were on crankbaits with the exception of my hybrid which came on a lucky craft jerkbait. All the fish were exept a few were caught in one little 10 yard area .
