What a great day! Though the off-season was pretty short this year, still wish NASCAR raced EVERY weekend! Can't wait for the shootout this afternoon. Perfect day to watch racing...too cold and windy to fish (even for Texas) and I'm sicker than a dog (spent the week in Philly and forgot to bring a jacket!)

Any wagers on today's winner? GO RUSTY!!

Really looking forward to next weekend...got my race tickets and pit passes. Just need a pretty girl to go with me (wonder if Mini's partner is busy??)

Nah..... Rusty's too old........ Believe me, Adam........ I know!

Tony would be my first bet...... Bobby, second....... Of course, Harvick and Jr. still have a lot to show.......

I still miss Dale, Sr.......

me!

Looks like we might not have any racing today...ARCA just finished under second red flag for rain. Hope it clears up!

Rusty's not old...just wiser!! He's still a balls to the wall, old-school hot rod driver and very suited to today's type of race (unless he breaks the pit-row speed limit again!)

Tony is a big fav today...a lot of folks even betting on him for the cup. Wouldn't mind seeing that, think Tony's another great driver.

Great call, Scott! What a race...glad to see Jr. edge out the 24. Thought Rusty could do it there for awhile, really needed his brother, though. Oh well, a great start to what should be a great season!!

I am SO disappointed!

No, not in Tony....... Nice goin', Tony! Maybe, since I never got to go door-handle-to-door-handle with Dale..... Maybe, just maybe, you and I will get the chance!

Why disappointed? Well, it's like this........ I went to brunch with my friend, Carol, this morning...... Stuffed myself on bacon, scrambled eggs, bacon, quiche and more bacon! Ran by the Post Office to drop Lori's b'day card in the mail so she'd get it tomorrow. Got home about in plenty of time to watch the race...... Got on-line and did the post above....... Turned on the tube to TNT......... Sat down, listened to the command "Gentlemn! Start..... Your..... En-Gines!"..... Held my breath during the warm-up laps..... Jumped forward as they got the green flag..... Then settled back - sound asleep - for the rest of the race!

Woke up just in time to see Tony drop to the apron after crossing the finish line!

See..... Sleepin' is what we old people do best!

me!

Oh...... Regarding Rusty..... He's old enough now that he doesn't have to "prove" himself to anyone! He's been through enough ups and downs that he can now see the advantages of leveling things out..... He's every bit as good as he ever was - even better! After so many years of competition, longevity is winning in it's own right!

Too bad you were stuffin' your face when the pre-race was on...they did a segment with the "old guys" of NASCAR asking them about the younger generation of Cup drivers. Bill Elliott cried about being old and getting passed by younger and "better" drivers, DJ talked about maturity and patience and Rusty came out screaming to all the young whipper-snappers that they better pay respect to their elders and watch their bumpers 'cuz he's comin' thru!!!

In true Rusty Wallace, #2, Miller Lite fashion he displayed to the world (or at least those that watch TNT) why I think he's the greatest!!

Hope your nap went well, gramps! If I hear about you sleeping through the 500 I'm gonna have Rich build a "Whoop-Ass Section" and permanently cut & paste you into it!

I've had the pharmacist at Wallgreen's order a special shipment of No-Doze for me!

And I WILL tape the race! If you want it when you get home, just let me know!

Enjoy Daytona!

me!
