Tex, that is an interesting link for sure. The only thing is it appears the data is from 2003, i wonder how much has changed in 9 years? That link has Mass being below the national average and the general perception is that Mass is as bad as it gets tax wise.
Looking at that link reminded me of something a friend of mine mentioned a while back. He moved from Mass to West Virginia back in 2004 and after being there a few months he realised that form a tax standpoint he was paying a larger percentage of his income to taxes there than he ever did in Mass. Granted his total cash outlay was less but he also makes about 1/3rd the money in WV than he did up here in MA so it hurts his bottom line a lot more. Things he noticed that were different, in WV the gas tax is higher, sales tax is higher(not the case today but it was in 04), food and clothing are taxed, the property or excise tax on a vehicle is more and declines at a lower rate as the vehicle depreciates, income tax rate is higher, property tax on homes and land is at a higher percentage of value( i pay about half of what he does percentage wise on my home conciderign the values)
