Hey eyeryone how yall doing? Good i hope. Last weekend i went to the lake and my motor after warming up was missing pretty bad. I ran it for 10-15 mins. Shut it off then i went to start it it l

Took like 10 minutes to crank back up. The ball wasnt hard or anything so i pumped it up. So it was idleing and missing i went to ease down the throttle and she would die. She did this about three more times until i finally got her to go. I put 4 new plugs in and a new gas line with primer bulb anyhelp would be greatly appreciated. Also the motor is a 2000 mercury 125 elpto. Thanks guys

Did you check the fuel? Take a sample and inspect it closely for debris ad water. I would still probably recommend flushing the carbs. Easy to do. Remove four bottom drain screws, pump primer bulb a few times, re install and give it a go again. BIG problems with the fuels....

Hey bob it could be that. Thats the gas leftover from winterizing. I did use the rec amount of sta-bil. Is there a way to drain the tank except of siphon. Thanks bob i really appreciate u

I would check and purge before worrying about draining it. Lets see what it looks like.

Ok bob will do brother. One more thing the top 2 carbs in havent had a chance to do the 2 screws yet. In a earlier post you said to tighten them clock wise slowly until slightly seated. Now them 2 screws have springs on them. What to do mean by seated i just dont want to mess anything up. Thanks bob

Turn them in until they stop, and with NO force, just until they stop. Back out 1.5 turns.

Ok bob thank you. In my manual it says initial mixture screw adjustment. It says turn idle mixture screw in until it seats lightly then back off.then it says low speed mixture it says level motor in water put in forward gear. Then turn low speed mixture in clockwise until outboard starts to bog down and misfire turn mixture screw out 1/4 turn or more. So is there more then the 2 screws that i need to do? Thanks bob

Bob i havent got to take out yet but i have a fuel filter under hood see through and theres brown flakes floating all in the filter

Bob i poured about half a gallon out and it was clean. No debris or water

Replace the filter, re-adjust carbs as outlined and let me know.....

Hey bob hopefully everything goes well and i get to take the boat out tomorrow night. I got another one for you. The enricher valve i dont think is working right. I can put the key in turn it once push in and it clicks. I pump the bulb up and i can pull the bottom hose and push the key in and it just barely spits just barely. While the bottom hose is off i can pump the primer bulb and and gas comes out the hose. Nothing out of top hose or hole. Thanks bob

Allright bob i put in a new filter made sure gap was 40 on new plugs. Adjusted top 2 carbs. It wouldnt run in forward. So i adjusted the top 2 carbs back out 1.5 turns again. Ran a little better but missed like crazy. On take off it just seemed like i didnt have enough power as i used to to get on plane allmost like i wasnt running on all 4. Thanks bob

Those motors are crucial to proper lynch and synch. Since it runs on the top two carbs below 1800+/-, you should be able to pull off the bottom two plug wires and notice NO change in idle quality. Do this with the motor OFF, pull the wires off the plugs, run it, and there should be no change. If there is, there is fuel bleeding through EXCESSIVELY, causing a rough run condition. Usually attributable to the bleed system, check valves, carb issues, and accelerator pump problems. If there is no change, that's good, and we can concentrate on the top two carbs. Again, you should be able to quickly pull wires off and on and notice similar running changes. Expect an RPM drop quickly, so be ready to push it right back on. This will also verify ignition quality.

The enrichener should not bleed through. It is just a solenoid that when open, will allow fuel flow for the rich mixture required for cold start operation. If this is faulty, it will allow the BOTTOM cylinders to run below 1800 rpm, making tuning difficult {read impossible} to the untrained ear.

Ok bob i will do this soon. Could i do this on muffs? I live awhile from lake? Thanks for all your help i will keep you updated

Ok bob pulled bottom 2 wires no difference at all. From what i said in a earlier post is the enricher valve bad

I have the same engine, had the same problem. Have you tried the fuel additive called StarTron? It's made specifically for eliminating ethanol problems, which is what was plagueing my engine performance as you described. If I put ethanol gas in my tank I keep the StarTron in it and it runs great! It's cheaper than non-ethanol gas at the marinas in Georgia:)
