I got to thinking when I saw the notes to Ken below.....

On my 1994 Nitro2000, the drain plug is seperate from the fitting it scres into and you have to put a coin into a slot to tighten it.

On my old 1995 Nitro180, it had a handle to hold while you twisted and had a tail that held it to the fitting.

Can I replace the plug / fitting on the Nitro2000 with one that I had on the Nitro180?

me?

Scott - Maybe 'cause that new rig goes SO FAST the old style plugs will just get RIPPED out at 100+ mph running that MONDO 200HP Merc! That's why the plug requires a strong screwdriver or coin to lock it in!!!!

You and I need to go fishin' again!

How soon can you make the drive to St. Louis?

me!

Not any time soon my friend, Mother-in-law and Sister-in-law (with 2 yearold son in tote) will decend upon us next Wed for a week. Then i'm off to Raleigh for my IBM Certification interviews, then Oct 4-5 i'm up in SC with Tex Transplant. I know you've done the drive our way, but it may not be till the Rally that I can get back up your way!

Hey Scott,

I have a 1994 170tf with the same kind of drain plug. I went to bass pro to see if i could get one with something to hold on to so i didn't have to use a coin or screwdriver every time. They said there isn't a replacement plug like that, that will fit. To get that kind of plug, you have to replace the entire insert. That means getting the old one out, and then making sure you silicone and check the new one for leaks. Being the lazy guy that I am, I opted to keep the one I have! Anyway, just thought I'd let ya know.

Talk to ya later!

God Bless,

Ed

Being the REALLY lazy person that I am..... I just ordered the newer style plug to put in! Or, at least I'll take out the old one and see if the newer will work - it should.
