I lived within 30 minutes of patoka lake growing up. It is a great lake. I lost the biggest bass I ever hooked in Patoka Lake (looked about an 8-9 lb'r) on a culprit worm in the stumpfields. My father still fishes it regularly. He pulled out numerous 5-7 pounders over the last few years. It is a tough lake at times, but the early morning/late evening bite can be awesome through the summer. Mid-day, spend your time swimming or napping.
I found bright blue texas rigged lizards with 1/16 oz weights are normally pretty good any time of year. Silver spinnerbaits when the bass are busting schools of shad are almost a no brainer.
