I have Buzz's boat trying to buff it up so it will sell. I used some of that super expensive compound I bought and it shines REAL nice, but I can't get the yellow out of the clear coat over the silver strips. One of the "896 Savage" stickers came off probably last year??? But where it was you can see how clear and bright the silver is underneath. Where the sun has beat it for the last few years, like on the back, the gel is yellowed a little bit and I can't seem to get through that to the good stuff underneath. I really put the elbow grease to it too but to no avail. I don't want to do anything to ruin it, any suggestions???? Also, on the black parts, you can see some oxidation that will not let go. I have scrubbed it and the mild stuff comes off, but some of the more stubborn areas will not cooperate. I chewed up a buffer pad on it already. Any compounds that will make it easier? The one I have was $30 for a quart of it. But I think it's only a finishing compound not meant for oxidation at this stage.

Rob: I had the same problem when I bought my 896 - it was especially evident on the silver. It had sat for a few years and yellowed. Not that you want to spend the extra money, but I took my to my boat & fiberglass guy and he buffed it up and put new stickers on it. Not sure wwaht they used, but it was great. Cost about $300 I think.

Rob you might try some of the 3M compounds. I think they have one for restoring old fiberglass. Its at wal-mart.

Rob,

I have used this product "Glissen" and it is great, everone I know that has used it has had nothing but good things to say about it. They are one of the sponsors in the tournament curcuit I fish , a super product in my opinion. I think you will be satisfied a little pricey but very easy and works, so I think it is worht it. KENNY
