I am having problems with my BPS XPS I Series 5/5/5 battery charger.

I purchased it in June 07 and up to now it has worked great.

When I plug it in the power LED and charging LED come on like it should

but after about 5 to 10 minutes they start blinking along with the float

LED. I checked the power output and it varies between 12 to 15 volts.

It goes up and down with the blinking lights. Any suggestions other

than sending it back for repair. I've already purchased a new one last night

because I'm going to Smith Mountain Lake for a week starting Saturday and did

not want to chance it. Any advice would be appreciated.

I think those have a 2 or 3 yr warranty, so one way or the other you are about to have 2 of these. Now that you have a new one I'd hook it up ASAP, and if it does the same thing, you have a bad battery and need to isolate and replace it. If a trolling motor battery, and they are in pairs, you need to do 2 together not one. If the new charger works, box the old one up and send it back per instructions, they'll repair or replace it and you can keep for a spare or sell it. I went through this when I bought my boat. I had a failing battery, and though it tested OK at Advance Auto, it was dying a slow death and would not charge right.
