thinking about having a custom cover made for my 19 footer can not decide whather to have it with snaps all around the boat or tie down straps. Thought you guy's (ladies also)may have some feed back on this.

Thanks Dave

Definately tie down straps.

The cover gets difficult to stretch when it's cooler/cold making snaps a b#### to match. You won't have to drill holes into your hull. You can tighten the cover as much or as little as you want. If you change an accessory that sticks up, like a trolling motor, you'd have to reposition snaps. The list goes on and on.......

I would get the motor cover seperate from the rest - makes it easier to tighten the main cover securely for trailering.

Get the straps made a bit longer than you might expect - it makes it easier to grab hold of them when the cover isn't quite on straight.

Get a bicycle innertube and cut it into 2" lengths. Slide them over the main section of the straps when the straps are loose. Then, once you've got the cover on, slide the tag end of the strap into the innertube sections to keep them from flopping around.

I agree with ME 100% straps are the only way to go.

Me i really like that idea with the innertubes, i have always tied my extra strap and they always get in a knot that tough to get out. im going to try that innertube thing.

I found it helped to double over the portion of the strap that I put inside the innertube.

Hey ME -- that's a great idea -- being new -- I need all the help I can get ..

Can more straps be added to the Tracker boat cover??

What motor cover would fit a Murc. 115hp 4Stroke??

Has anyone used the vents for the boat covers???

check it out----

Thanks HaleDamage

More straps can easily be added to any boat cover.

Just mark where you want the straps installed and take the cover to anyplace that makes custom boat covers, tents and awnings or tarps for over-the-road trucks. They will have the materials and equipment to do the job in nuthin' flat!

Personally, I don't know why anyone would worry about covering the motor anyway.....

Dave,

Do you want a Trailer/Storage cover or do you dock your boat and are looking for a mooring cover??

If you want cover while on the trailer then definitely go with straps. A mooring cover will need to be snaps.

I agree with ME on the straps deal. Straps are the way to go. I have a cover for my motor as I do not it out in the elements. This way keep all the scunge off of the motor and the boat too!! Less finish wear all the wear around.

For leaving your boat in a slip, what mooring cover would you recommend? I have a road cover with straps and I don't really want to put snaps on my boat. Any suggestions?
