bent trolling motor shaft

I did it bent the trolling motor shaft today.How do u get it st8ing out.How much dose a new one cost 2002 TRACKER 43LBS.How do u get the shaft off the motor.

take the top off and unhook the steering.then disconnect the wires going into the shaft.you have to cut these. if it is motor guide there is a set screw on the side of the top nut on the shaft to remove it. the btm motor unscrews from the btm. this is for the internal shaft. sometimes its just the external shaft.i've only redone motor guides.if you are good at taking apart things, you can do it yourself. i don't know if this helps. stan

Yeah, you can get it apart and straightened - BUT are you good at putting things back together!??!

I disassembled mine and took it to a muffler shop...for $10...the guy bent it back very close to perfect...
