I have been on vacation for the last week and a half and right before I left, I remember seeing someone talking about a new article in Bass and Walleye Boats magazine that featured a 929 with a Mercury 250 XS. Has anyone read this? I have searched far, wide, high and deep for a copy of this and can't find it.

Anyone?

Anyone have any personal experience with this motor/boat combo???

Thanks,

Chad

Chad -

I think Dan J has that combination.....

You could e-mail him or possibly reach him through the Atlanta BPS store if you want feedback on it.

me!

Staci - I THINK dan's boat has the 250 XB not the XS, not that I know what the difference is!!! LOL

Chad - I've got the mag/article back home in Atlanta, it was VERY positive!

OK..... I gotta know..... So I'll ask.....

What's the difference between the XB and XS?

Thanks for the clarification Joe! I think Dan's old (2003!!) 929 with the 250XB we hit 76 mph one COLD morning, that thing FLIES!!! Of course it eats a LOT more $$ and gas them my 40 Carbed merc!!! LOL

Thanks for all the response guys! I just sold my last team boat and the new one will be ordered soon. I think the 250 XS would be a blast.

My last 929 had a 225 OptiMax and while I have no complaints about the boat, I could use a little more power in hole shot and in top end. I could only get 68.5 with a partner and full game day gear.

I did hit 96 MPH once...but...uhhhhh....I think that had something to do with it being on the trailer. Not much lift and no chine walk but it sure does ride nice at that speed!!!!!

TOXIC,

e-mail is [email protected] and my cell phone is 916.803.0708. What issue was this article in (what month?).

By the way, is there anyone with pics of this combo???

Thanks again to all,

Chad

The 250XB boat went to it's new home last week. I've driven and we've rigged the 250XS on 929's and found the hole shot similar to the 225 Opti, if not just a little better (XS), and the top end seeing most of the gain in the 5-7 mph better range. (Mid 70's, GPS 76-ish mph light load) The XB (EFI) was the last of the greatest; (IMHO) light weight with tremendous acceleration. You'll like the XS, especially the economy of it. Good luck!
