Tonight's mail included yet another "Special Offer" from BASS. This time they wanted to sell me an Oreck Vacumn Cleaner. Struggling with finding a way this is fishing related.

I guess it's true, BASS has simply become a marketing organization. What a shame.

I got the same.....

I am so disappointed.....

Ranks right up there with buying a used boat and finding out that you can't get the hull warranty transferred because a bank is listed as the "second owner"......

Hey,I got one too, now what does an Oreck vacuum have to do with bass fishing? Ohhhhhhhhhhhh I get it, it's for vacuuming the boat carpeting, right? C'mon, B.A.S.S., wake up! Things like this really rub your loyal subscribers/members (at least this one) the wrong way, save the postage if you need the money, don't send me junkmail.

Keep it up and you'll be the next decal removed from my vehicles, along with the next non-renewed subscription/membership. The rate these orginizations are going, I'll be down to a BPS and Tracker decal pretty soon, lol........ egMike

Here is something that will give you some satisfaction in this matter. B.A.S.S. and other people normally give you a self addressed-stamped buisness reply envelope in the packet of junk. Take the junk mail and put it back in that envelope and drop it back in the mail. Of course take anything with your name off of it first. In fact, it's neat to send the people their competition's junk mail should you have it in the same pile... If you really want to be different, take reader service cards out of trade type magazines. Since there are usually two of the same cards together, on one card circle the even numbers and on the other circle the odd. Then if you can get on web and find the name and address of their CEO's office, put that information on the reader service cards. Drop them in that mail and he/she will get junk for years...

Hey now its not so bad. The vacuum, in properly trained fishing experts hands can be life saver for serious tournament anglers. For example what to do when your aerator pumps stop working during a tournament. Reverse the air flow and voila, an aerator. Got a lure that won't catch anything... turn the vacuum on high and watch the lure get incerated by the vacuum impeller. Need money to get back those tournament winnings you didn't win? A drive up vaccum service right after the tournament is one way to get those winnings back. This summer those mosquitoes are going to be bad. Turn it on and tape to your forehead. No more mosquitoes and flies flying around your face, an instant bug be gone machine. Its the hottest thing this year.

Guess you are suppose to suck 'em out of the water on those days when they won't bite????

Think I will stick with dynamite! LOL

I got the same "offer" from Buckmasters a few weeks back!

Guys....think about the FLW. What does Corn Flakes have to do with fishing? Stanley Tools? Black and Decker? (they make vacs too). It is evolution of the sport, sponsors outside of the industry are a must in order to elevate beyond the meager marketing budgets that fishing industry companies have. If you dont like the junk, throw it away, if you dont like the rules, dont play!

Kind of like the post tiltes here. If I dont like the title I dont open it....

Reminds me of a couple of years ago I got a Texaco credit card. EVERY NIGHT my phone would ring and I would get to hear about the wonderful offer I had been selected to receive---just because I was such a valuable customer. Everything from credit card protection to acidental death & dismemberment. I finally got so PO'ed that I called Texaco and told them that I didn't apply for a credit card with the intention of being placed on a list to be driven crazy with solicitor calls and the next one would result in the return of my card in little pieces. It stopped.

A seperate vacumn for that $30,000 boat

I love a company who is always thinking about the customer

Oooooo Scott, was that a little slam there I heard? And against????? No couldn't be! LOL But I know this...Ranger transfers warranties. So does Skeeter and Triton and Basscat. Hmmmmmmm.....nope never mind! LOL

Tracker will also transfer warranties. But it is not an open ended agreement. If the boat was repo'd, the bank was the second owner. You cannot get a warranty transferred on a Ranger, Triton, Skeeter, etc after a repo. You can get a third party warranty though.

Mini

Somebody told me you don't even need a warranty on a Ranger.

LOL

JR - That's right, as heavy as they are they don't go FAST enough to do any damage!!!! LOL

Trep, you should be more careful. Even the smallest Ranger will blow your tin rig off the water. They go plenty fast enough. What am I doing, it's not worth the effort to try to explain fact to tin lovin jarjar! LOL Ain't you supposed to be fishing today anyway? What the $@%# you doing on here with us ice locked bums?

Trep...the price of your shirts just keeps going higher and higher,.......LOL...pretty soon I'll have to insure them just to get them to you (if they EVER get to me!!!) LOL

Wait'll I take you for a ride in a 520 with a 225,.....you'll sound all "girly" screamin' and tellin' me to sloooow dooowwnnn!!!!!....Now pipe down and go polish your tin cup!!! I'm outa here,...gotta go spank some toads in Arkansas!!! Seeya!!!

Rob - Boat's hooked up just waiting on the kids to come home, see my other post about my first fish this year that came this morning.

Mac - Go WIN that T, not JUST place in the top 10!!! Oh and just call Craig at the store, ask him to bring one of each shirt ( the correct sizes of course LOL) home and pick them up from him!!!

LOL

Thought I might be able to get a little something goin' with my last comment!

This is a great site with a great bunch of guys and a nice place to go once in a while throughout the day to get away from it all.

("Tin Cup"....LOL....I think you should change your name Trep....LOL)

This could have been worse. Oreck does make a great vacuum cleaner.

On a similar note...

Anybody get InFisherman magazine???

They sent me a videotape this week...

I thought...cool...free tape! NOT

If I like it, they will bill me $7 for the first of the series...If I don't like it, I have to send it back to them...

Nice deal...

I don't like 'unsolicited' stuff from anyone...if I don't ask for it, don't send it to me!!!

Mini -

Really? You can't get a warranty transferred after a repo on any make boat?

I guess that the manufacturers are just trying to protect themselves from damage/neglect by the prior owner...... But.....

me

Once a boat goes into repo the manufacturer knows it has been "owned" by the bank, then sold either at auction or to a wholsaler then to another dealer or owner. That is alot of hands....most manufacturers will only transfer a warranty to the second owner, that would make it the bank on a repo. Even Lifetime warranties are cut short during transfer....usually down to 10 years for the second owner and then down to 5 for the third. If you get it at all on the third. Remember that all of these warranties start when the boat was originally benn "put in service" by the dealer to the original owner.

Mini

It's still a pretty poor deal for the person buying the used boat.....

Buyers expect the balance of the warranty.

Buyers probably aren't aware of the history.

The unsuspecting Buyer could end up getting hurt.
