Am I too high on my 2010 Z7 on the sell forum? I've not a had a single contact from the places I have it listed. Well I did have a guy on Craigslist that wanted to pay by Paypal and have it shipped to him ( LOL, yeah right:rolleyes: ) Guess the boat economy is pretty tough right now. Between the trade in I was offered and the credit I would get from for sales tax comes to the same amount I'm selling it for. My only advantage not to trade it in not having the monthly payment while waiting on a new boat. That boat has everything that a person would want that was in the market for that size boat except that it doesn't have the 200.

You have probably done some homework and determined that $25K is a fair price for a depreciated boat plus the cost of all your extras. Now, look at the cost of a new 2011 Z-7 on the tracker Marine website ... $24K. Regardless of your cost for all the items in your's boat package, folks won't want to pay more than $24K ... regardless of how much more you are providing. Further, add to that the fact that folks really want to steal the boat from you and yes, I would have to say you are too high. Now, not having seen your calcualtions, nor wanting to do them myself, I really can't say you are too high for certain. By the way, during a recent experience I've had selling a Mariner SUV, I found that giving folks too good a deal and they think something is wrong. Can't really win. Hard to find that sweet spot that makes a buyer think he stole a great boat from you while you take home a dime or two.

Agreed. It's like selling a motorcycle with all the "extras", that might be worth as much as the bike itself, but means nothing for re-sale. Sure, there is always someone who appreciates it, but the majority could care less, sorry to say. We are faced with this dilemma constantly. If it isn't priced right, it is not going to sell.

post script -- Also be wary of dropping your price too little, too often. Folks will wait around for the price to hit bottom when they see frequent "new reduced price." Minimize the number of times you drop the price. For me, I wouldn't think about buying a new boat until I sold the old boat.

I understand where your coming from. It'll likely be traded in then. Selling for anything less would be less than I'm getting for trade in, which I'm OK with that.;)

I for one when I buy a boat has to be loaded up. I'd be at a loss with a base boat with no brakes, hydraulic steering, cover, good electronics..etc.

Do boat dealers really take in trades? I've only talked with a few and they seemed to be more on the lines of consignment because they didn't wan't the hassle. I know of one dealer here that does trades. The others I've talked to were standoffish about it.

Just curious.

I'm changing brands and that dealer does trades all the time. I do know that my local BPS does trades as well.

I read the topic and thought,,,,,,depends on how good the weed is!!

So Bob you are saying that my Ranger isnt worth the amount of the accessories I have on her???? LOL....

If I ever sold her I would have to remove almost everything I put on it!
