I have a divided livewell in my 700LX. The aerator pipe is in one side (behind the passenger seat). Everytime I put fish in this side of the livewell, a fish will manage to knock the pipe off the connection. I've thought about superglueing the pipe to the connector but then I wouldn't be able to clean the pipe if necessary or replace the O-ring. The pipe fits snug into the connector (it doesn't skrew in...it pushes in) but 9 out of 10 times a lively fish will knock the pipe off. Anyone have any ideas.

Thanks!

Carli

My buddy has the same problem in has 640lx, it can be a pain I know that. But he's never found a fix for it yet. I'd be a little scared to use the super glue. What year is yours?

Try explaining to the fish before you put them in your livewell to stay away from the pipe or they are going to lose all their water. Maybe that would help!

No cat fight Scott! Just a little humor. The board seems to need a little light humor if you catch my drift!

Don't know if it would work or not or if it would affect the fish but try silicone caulk. It should hold it and still allow you to get it out if need be...... I think.

I know EXACTLY what you mean, Barb!

The "feminine" humor you expressed really was very refreshing..... Kind of in a nurturing sort of way..... "OK now, little fishy. You just go on in there and play with the other fishies like a nice girl/boy. And, please, be careful not to knock the pipe over....."!

Now, about those chocolate covered strawberries, white chocolate covered blueberries and champagne..... :^)

You can replace the pipe with another style aerator which works better anyway. I changed mine on an 882 and even upgraded the valve to an auto system with pump out, which is the same as the 900 series. You have a Flow-Rite system and you can get the parts you need at www.flow-rite.com. You can call and order direct. Great company and great service.

Carli - I've not done this yet, but I remember hearing this fix a while back:

Measure the length from the bottom of the livewell to the top (as if the lid were closed). Take the current Pipe with you to a hardware store and get a length of PVC equal to that length, also get a x (cross) connector (this will have a top/bottom that fits onto the pipe and also has openings on either side like an X turned sideways). What you do is cut the pipe so that the X is the hieght you want water to start draining out of the livewell (or you could just drill holes the 1 piece pipe). Then place the remainder of the cut pipe back on the top of the X so that when you close the livewell the lid holds the pipe in place.

I know that doesn't sound too clear, if I get a chance tomorrow i'll try to draw a picture and post it. Basically your just making 1 pipe that is held tight by the top of your livewell and it has holes to allow the water to drain.

Mine does the same thing, but doesn't fall out, it just gets knocked out of place, and upwards. I tried using silicone. and it works ok, but still comes loose if bumped hard enough. What I tried that actually works ok is, try cutting a small piece of rubber band, or plastic wrap, and wedging it into the opening of the pipe, when you insert it, it just makes for a tighter fit.

just put little fish in it and don't ever get on plane and don't hit any waves.sorry i couldn't resist.stan

Trepper is correct. The best way and easiest is to glue a 3/4" PVC Cross socket to the top of your pipe. And then glue into the top of the Cross socket another short piece of 3/3" pvc pipe that is just long enough to fit under the lid of the live well. That way when the lid is down it is holdin the pipe inplace and the cross tee will allow the water to still drain at the level of the original pipe.

Thanks John, that was the visual I was trying to describe!

Carli -

If you're talking about the in-flow pipe..... If your boat is set up like my old 180's livewell..... That pipe would swivle and I always had mine set in a horizontal position. I had done so to provide more aeration to the water; but I don't ever remember a fish knocking it loose, either.
