I've got aerator pump problems.:( The pump was blowing fuses. There was water in the livewell and would not drain out. I was taking the fill line off the pump and the fitting broke off in the hose due to aging and turning soft I guess. It broke really easy. I need a new pump now. Some water drained out when the fitting broke and the pump no longer blows fuses. I thought a mud dauber had plugged things up.

My question is....

The pump and the AUTO/EMPTY valve are mounted through a bracket that is riveted to the step below the transom. Does anyone know how to separate the two units without grinding the rivets off and removing the bracket too? Is it possible to remove the hoses and unscrew the pump from the control valve?

I have a '98 PT175. Thanks.

I hope someone has a good answer for you. I recently tried to take out my aerator and could not figure out how it comes off that riveted bracket.

Hey Alex, I'll let you know what I find out.

It may be early yet but the longer the post goes unanswered the more probable

no one knows.

Pretty soon I'll tear into it and find out.;)

Sorry no help here.

Mine is an older model and it just has the through hull fitting holding it in place.

Try giving the search a try if you haven't already. There may be some good info from past posts you can use.

Here ya go....something's in the pump. Been there and done it and finally fixed it:lol:

Every once in awhile mine would blow a fuse and sometimes just blow ant new that I would put in. A small pebble was in the pump lockig it up.

Well as I'm sure you can see they are a ROYAL PIA to get to and not fun to keep pulling out and cleaning! Do youself a favor and replaceit with the removable cartridge type from Rule. I forget the model # but, I can get it for you.

Anytime I need to clean it now is just push the clips and twist right out...easy as pie and you'l never ever look back.

The pump you have now does not come out unless you remove the screws:angry:

Well I came home from work and it was such a nice afternoon I decided to try to figure out how that pump came out. I took an inspection mirror and found the key. It's easy, just take the four screws off the end of the pump and she's in your hand. Does take a little manual dexterity though. I just can't wait to put it back in! :p I am posting a link for you Alex. It appears Tee knew all along about the screws.

Thanks for the help guys.
