A lesson learned the hard way. Have a manual and an automatic pump. Make sure the manual pump switch is placed somewhere so that you won't accidentally switch it on. My Ranger Bay Boat had one on the bow panel that someone hit with their foot deboarding at a beach, an hour later my boat floated away when the tailrace level increased, it wasn't anchored to shore. Someone took me to the boat and I had no power to start the boat. The batteries were under the floor, 20 minutes of unscrewing lag screws before I could access them and 3 miles downstream.
