A week ago Reg Unleaded down here was $3.79.9, today we are looking at $4.39.9. Non Ethanol is almost $5.00 a gallon. Has the increasing fuel prices put a crimp in your fishing or your travels to lakes farther away? Normally I make my spring trip to Center Hill Lake or Dale Hollow Lake TN ( 670 Miles each way) in Mid April. I don't it's going to happen this year. In July I'm pulling my boat to Door County Wi to fish for Smallie's and Walleye (1500 Miles each way) fuel prices are going to be a killer. My 2020 F-150 2.7 Eco gets decent fuel mileage pulling boat. I'm 70 and my brother is 73 so at this point the cost will be worth it. At least the 75 Merc on the back of my boat is not a FUEL HOG!

We are all about to feel some real financial pain... I don't think that the price increase is nearly to the highest level yet.. I just hope you guys can hang with it and continue to fish! I certainly won't quit but I won't be making drive trips to fish for a while.. I'm already signed on for the Big Bass Splash, in May, at Toledo Bend and that's 170 miles from me. 3 of the last 4 years, I've collected enough cash to pay for the trips. Looks like I'll need to up my game this year. LOL - That's the only event I'm going to drive for this year...

Just put diesel in my truck, got a deal at $5.99/gal at Valero. Diesel at Shell was $6.49. Fortunately, the launch ramp is only 9 miles away. :) My fishing pond has 360 miles of shoreline, will be keeping speed down. Uses twice as much fuel at 60 vs 35. Unleaded Regular was $5.21

Son lives in SoCal, unleaded regular was $5.99.

All of my fishing spots are within 30 minutes, except for The Harris Chain or Lake Kissimmee which are an hour. A normal fishing day I use 4-6 gallons of Non Ethanol which adds up to a extra $5-7 dollars. I'm not going to use E10 in my motor to save a few $$$.

Wow.... and to think...🤔 we have enough oil in West Texas to have alleviated all of this... energy exporting 2 years ago to being energy dependant once again😪

Makes you wonder about priorities.

Now I will probably get kicked or banned or whatever they do to politically incorrect people.

Oh well...

From what I understand Mercury is coming out with a Electric outboard. I guess the Bass Fishermen will have to down size their rigs.

Everyone's right there will you on this. No way to get around it this year. I also only use Non-Ethanol gas and that's always higher in price. My Fishing buddies up here in upstate New York are all ready planning how the up and coming boating season is going to pan out. One friend said at $5 a gallon it will cost him $625 to fill his boat's gas tank. Looks like less fishing for most. On the plus side a lot of sport boats will be staying off the water. That fast joy ride around the lake will eat up the wallet. Good luck to all.
That last part of your comment is definitely the silver lining in all of this!!

I laugh at the way everyone is pushing the use of EV's,EO/B's and of course electric implements. Of course all have their place. What they don't tell you is replacement cost's and disposal of the Lithium batteries. I guess I'm Old Fashioned..Give me a gas or diesel vehicle, boat, lawn implement, generator or chainsaw any day. Nothing wrong with Coal fired,Nuclear, Hydro, Solar,Gas and Wind power all used together to provide electricity.

You don’t “dispose” of lithium batteries. They are recycled. The lithium and cobalt can be precipitated out of the cells with almost 100% yield.

Crude oil is a finite commodity, and we’re using it at a faster rate everyday. One day - maybe not in my lifetime - it will be gone.

Actually. it is very expensive to recycle lithium batteries. Europe has graveyards of dead electric vehicles because the recycle cost is more than what the vehicles are worth. There are many unpublished issues with EV's that the public has not been made aware of.

U.S. OIL SUPPLY..... INCREDIBLE..!!
About 6 months ago, there was a news program on oil and one of The Forbes Bros. was the guest. The host said to Forbes, "I am going to ask you a direct question and I would like a direct answer; how much oil does the U.S. Have in the ground?" Forbes did not miss a beat, he said, "More than all the Middle East put Together."
The U.S. Geological Service issued a report in April 2008 that only Scientists and oil men knew was coming, but man was it big. It was a revised report (hadn't been updated since 1995) on how much oil was in this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota, western South Dakota, and Extreme eastern Montana.
Check THIS out:
The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska's Prudhoe Bay and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign oil. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503 billion barrels. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable (5 Billion barrels), at $107 a barrel, we're looking at a resource base worth more than $5.3 trillion. "When I first briefed legislators on this, you could practically see their Jaws hit the floor.
They had no idea." says Terry Johnson, the Montana Legislature's financial analyzer. "This sizable find is now the highest-producing onshore oil field found in the past 56 years,” reports The Pittsburgh Post Gazette.
It's a formation known as the Williston Basin but is more commonly referred to as the 'Bakken.' It stretches from Northern Montana, through North Dakota and into Canada. For years, U.S. Oil exploration has been considered a dead end. Even the 'Big Oil' companies gave up searching for major oil wells decades ago.
However, a recent technological breakthrough has opened up the Bakken's Massive reserves, And, we now have access of up to 500 billion barrels. And because this is Light, sweet oil, those billions of barrels will cost Americans just $16 PER BARREL!!!!! That's enough crude to fully fuel the American economy for 2041 years Straight. And if THAT didn't throw you on the floor, then this next one should - Because it's from 2006 !!!!!!
U.S. Oil Discovery - Largest Reserve in the World Stansberry Report Online - 4/20/2006. Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the Largest untapped oil reserve in the world. It is more than 2 TRILLION barrels. On August 8, 2005 President Bush Mandated its extraction. In many recent years of high oil prices none has been extracted. With this mother lode of oil why are we still fighting over off-shore Drilling?
They reported this stunning news: We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on Earth.
Here are the official estimates:
8 times as much oil as Saudi Arabia
18 times as much oil as Iraq
21 times as much oil as Kuwait
22 times as much oil as Iran
500 times as much oil as Yemen
And it's all right here in the Western United States !!!!
HOW can this BE? HOW can we NOT BE extracting this? Because the Environmentalists and others have blocked all efforts to help America become Independent of foreign oil! Again, we are letting a small group of people Dictate our lives and our economy. WHY?
James Bartis, lead researcher with the study says we've got more oil in this very compact area than the entire Middle East, more than 2 TRILLION barrels Untapped. That's more than all the proven oil reserves of crude oil in the World today, reports The Denver Post.
Don't think 'OPEC' will drop its price even with this find? Think again! It's all about the competitive marketplace, it has to. Think OPEC just might be funding the environmentalists?
Got your attention yet? Now, while you're thinking about it, do this:
Pass this along. If you don't take a little time to do this, then you should stifle yourself the next time you complain about gas prices, by doing NOTHING, you forfeit your right to complain.
Now I just wonder what would happen in this country if every one of you sent this to everyone in your address book.

Ok …Granted, the above post made by me yesterday, is a copy of an email I received from a cousin of mine. I don’t know the authenticity of the articles contents, but it does make you wonder!

When they say its green . i say look at the horizon see the huge plume of steam or ? rising . thats your green energy the electric power plant burning something .
Like maybe a train load of coal. i see them everyday 1/2 mile long heading for points east.
