How do you stop water from entering the live well. Switch is not on

but I get about 4" of water in the well. Don't want water in the well

while fishing this winter.

Thanks

Do you have an AUTO / EMPTY switch? Mine stay bone dry on AUTO, with the pump switches off, obviously.

Agree with Ed. My livewell has "auto" "empty" and "recirc." Leaving it on "recirc" ensures the valve is not open to the outside and prevents water from entering. Leaving it on "empty" or "auto" will let lake/river water in.

Jim, there is a small plug that I have to insert into the bottom of my livewell to keep the water out. I also have all the above mention switches, but if I don't put that plug in before lanching my boat, I will always have 3 ~ 4 inches of water in the livewell while I'm on the water.

It is most likely a leaky drain valve, at least that's why mine leaks a little. I am going to start using the rubber plug as well.

Mine just has on/off, no recirculator. If yours is that way, just put a plug in the drain hole of livewell until you need it. Works for me.
