Driving up to Canada for fishing vacation when axle suddenly falls off trailer on NY state thruway...found out cause was leaf spring broke in half. Luckily no one hurt but needless to say a near catastrophe... 22 year old trailer...check your leaf springs so you might be able to prevent this.

WOW !!! never seen that before that's horrible, I guess it could have been a lot worse. Like Chobeemuaga said good thing nobody got hurt.

It is a miracle no one got hurt...no body behind me sustained any damage from debris flying off the trailer either. Trailer all fixed . I was lucky to find a guy within 20 minutes of where it happened. It took about 3 weeks to get trailer back. Technician put 4 leaf springs on instead of 3 to make it a little sturdier.

At the base ...broke in half...wasnt that rusted as far as i could tell. Mechanic who fixed the trailer said he maybe saw this once before and he specializes in trailer repair. For any members in NY state near Buffalo the mechanic was great and very reasonable. Scott from Unicorn specialties just outside of Batavia NY if you need trailer work
