JUST GOT IT ORDERED, and hope its here soon to many TX to fish and hate to not show up in the new 929. I just sold my 898 TEAM BOAT and it was a nice ride, but looking to get the NEW stuff.:D

EJP... Why don't you sign up, get personal, tell us about yourself... THEN we will jump on ya for bashing the 29....KB

Nitros may not be the fastest boats on the water, but they will get up and go! If you wnat a fast boat go with allison or bullet. I'll put nitro up against any boat out there.

" I probably shouldn't post this. Because I guess in a way it is a insult."

As kb wrote, sign up EJP. I'm new to this board but that post was wrong.

Just my opinion... That 250 will make that 29 do in the low 70's IF set up properly... BIG IF!!

Worth the money if speed is important... the 29 is the best layout on the market.. a very heavy hull... A good wheel man and it can handle the rough stuff better than most on the market.... Just my opinion....

Now sign up!!!!!

my 929 may be slower than the others...but in rough water i will be the only dry driver in the fleet! and i would guess the 250 would be a little faster than the 225 opti i have...maybe he is going for a better hole shot? or maybe he just wanted a 250...I love my 929 and wouldn't trade it for a brass monkey...but that is just my opinion.

Raw power is raw power no matter what hull it sits on. Nobody's gonna bash you. That is a fair question. No different than a Ranger with a big motor. Neither one is built for speed.......but.........that doesn't mean you can'n make em' scoot pretty good. As others have said the layout in the 929 is it's greatest selling point (and it's rough water ride).

I think the 929 and 911 are the best boats out there as fare as the ride. If you fish rough water speed don't matter safty does all those 70+ boats have to back off the T and they get wet and bounced around. Just my 2 Cents

Well, I don't know about the rest of you people but I would be happy to have a 929 with anything on the back including the 9.9 that BMCD talked about. Have fished out of Toxic's and KBs 929s that they are awesome fishing platforms. Speed doesn't do anything for me but it's nice to know what you have under you when you fish. LOL

OK time to chime in, First off I've been in many " custome built water rockets" ALL of them, and yes 80-90-even 100+ is fun BUT in a everyday tournament with 200+ boats and large open lakes the 929 is my choice, one I'm on the STATE TEAM (SC) no great fisherman and no great speed "specialist". I went with the 929/ 250XS combo for a BIG reason, (EJP here's the reason) 225 OPTI ---68-69 called all over the USA on these reports of speed (100 of calls)

the 225 PRO XS 70-72 yes average.

THE 250XS 74-76 depends on set-up and "who" does the prop work.

I talked with many many many reps that test the hulls and the "big" boys for truth.

So am I crazy---NO--warranty sucks but its from the racing Div. and extended warranty is available. I plan on selling it next fall (sept-oct 06) I believe in power-- RAW MERC POWER and with a tuned boat and prop I will GPS 75 --I know it will. I just sold a 898 NX with stock 225 OPTI ---6" plate and turned a 26" Tempest into the rev limiter all day. (73 GPS daily)

I also was told "no jackplate" and it will suffer holeshot---nada. Fast quick and topend was great for a "slow" boat. Man that bought it was out of a Bullet so speed was no issue he liked the solid no movement feel at rest. I also went through 5 props till the best one was found and then had it tripled cupped and balanced. then off to the lake and test. Full loads are the norm for me so I will have a BIG fast Aircraft carrier. On the lakes I fish (Santee-Clarks Hill--Lake Murray--Hartwell--Russell and a few smaller ones) the weather can turn into a nitemare.and many have had FAST boats that run very slow and beat and bang, so run big and run smart---929 w/250XS by the way 87 octane and the new 06 250XS is a different engine. OK I could have went with 225 PRO XS but why? a v-8 is a v-8 but 350 hp vs 500 hp is different ---RIGHT? It takes HP to push the 929 fast and loaded tourny loads at 74-76 GPS is fast to me.

ok look at this---- is a skateboard at 50 mph fast? or is a pooltable at 50 fast?

I also was confused on the extra coin for the 250 xs.. I just bought a 911 w/225 opti. I couldnt push myself up to the XS 250 becuase of the difference in warrenty. If i was going to go to 250 i was going to go with the verado.. now we are talking an extra 6k. So i stuck to just spending 42k on my 911 instead of 48k.. I couldnt bite the extra $$$ ...just breaking 40k was hard enough..

if i was going to sell in a year though, then its def a diff game since warrenty is some other guys problem.

the 250XS is a very well "hand built" by the racing div. It does get the extra attention to detail and that's a big difference in warranty than the production line built motors---by the way 3- 200EFI's and 3-Optimax 225's. All were very good and strong only one EFI 200 had a piston crack but we "hopped" that one up anyway and is still running fine. I have a friend who runs a 2200 Gambler and he has the 300X Merc on it (1-yr warranty) its a 2003 and has approx 100 hrs not one problem with it and the race div still calls on it to hear a update. He never runs it hard (why do ya) it runs @ 4800 a whopping 70 mph (trim/plate and tabs adjusted right) he felt no worries and I don't either with the care you will get and the motor is BAD.

Yes some would go with the HPDI and the E-TEC even the Suzuki---Honda has the 250VTEC almost ready and the 300XS OPTIMAX will soon be out (tried to rig it on the 929 but not ready yet) all engines made today are good all are. I happen to be a Merc MAn so I run them. Speed is a concern but again cars run 90 on the interstate and it seems the norm but you see a SEMI running 80 and its FAST. so big and bold with an attitude. Hope I don't get to attached to this boat.
