The seats on my new/used Sprint had a lot of torn seams. The vinyl was generally pretty good, but the stiching had let go in many paces: The front buckets, on the rear bench, the bow deck bolsters, etc. Pretty much all needed to be resewn or recovered.

Pulled all the seats out a couple of months ago and dropped it at a local, mom-and-pop upholstry shop that does mostly automotive and furniture repair work. It took them a while because I had the craftsman order UV resistant nylon thread, but it was worth the wait. Just picked them up today, and wow, what a difference!

When I bought this boat, I thought I'd be looking at at least a grand for new vinyl and/or repairs. This guy fixed all of my seats for $300. If you need this type of work done, don't go to a marine vinyl shop if you can find a good local upholsterer. If they use the right materials, the job can be every bit as good as a marine shop.

Looks like they did a great job Rich. The seats look brand new.:)

Looks Great Rich! Did they just stitch it up or replace all/part? I noticed the 'Sprint' logo still looks good, so I assume they didn't replace that part??

Those are almost too purdy to sit on!! Sweet recovery of a couple great looking buckets. Enjoy!!

Looks good Rich! Let us know when you get them installed back in the boat, I'm looking forward to any updates you have on "Project Sprint"!!!

WooHoo...? A reasonably intelligent businessman with at leat two web sites hollers things like WooHoo? What has this world come to? Just kidding Rich.:D They look GREAT!!! I have a guy who lives just across the street from me who can do this stuff. He just doesn't do enough of it. I wish I could..

Bill, when a couple dozen sunny, warm days go by and you can't fish cause the boat has no seats...well, that garners a "WooHoo!" when the seats come home.

Michael, he took the vinyl off the frames and restitched it. He said the wood was all still sound, so no structural repairs were needed. None of the vinyl was replaced. There are a couple of very minor tears and stains in on the vinyl, but nothing that bothers me enough to warrant replacement. For a couple of pieces, he couldn't take the vinyl off without ruining it, so he had to leave it on the frames and stitch it by hand. I can't tell where he used the machine and where he stitched by hand. The guy does good work. M&M Furniture Repair in Lawrenceville. They do a lot of warranty jobs for LazyBoy and Lane. Had a really nice conversation with him today when I was picking the seats up. You can learn a lot about furniture brands and quality when you talk to someone who fixes it for a living.

Rich,

Those look terrific. I need to find someone here in the Carolina's to do the same thing. The wife was going to attempt it, but I'd probably be better off getting them done 'outside the house'.
