I need to find a place to break up my trip to Minnesota. I can't arrive at the cabin until Sunday afternoon. I passed the Wisconsin Dells last year and thought I might stop there this year. I looked it up on the internet and thought Beaver Springs would be a place to kill time. Can anyone recommend something to do at the Dells and where to stay?? or some other place on the way to Hackensack, Minnesota??

Teri...

There are dozens upon dozens of Tourist Trap things to do at the dells.... Go online and search it you will be amazed... When the kids were younger that was "the" stop between Chicago and the Brainerd Lakes area...

We now stay in Madison (get a hotel from Hotwire for about $40) and go to Famous Dave's for some of the best ribs in the world... back to the pool and sleep!!! Times have changed.

Another interesting stop a little further north is at Military Ridge... Air National Guard base and museum and a (almost) world class german restaurant. The Tomah and Black River Falls area are also nice stops...

If you want... e-mail me and I will get you my phone number and you can call and "pick my brain"..

I would be careful of going near "beaver springs". There are just too many jokes to be had. :)

Better bring a lot of cash. The wife and I went there a few years back. There are many many cheesey tourist traps that cost a lot and aren't very intertaining. The only thing worth while to me was the Paul B***** and his blue ox lumberjack breakfast. Just a ton of junk. Hope it has changed. Not far from the traps is a wonderful state park I believe its named Devil's lake. It's unique and has some great trails.

Dodgeville WI has the "House On The Rock" It's one weird place. I've been back three times because I do weird real well.

Don't go by me but I don't have a yen to return to the Dells, once was plenty.

I was only there once and that was 1968 so I can't help any. Now just another 10 to 20 hours farther west is a place called Yellar Stone.. I remember they had some cuddly bars.. I me bears and some nice trout in the lake..

Wow,...when a man knows where to go for pie,...hundreds of miles from home,.....Id say he knows that area!!..LOL

The Norske Nook is "World Famous"... And, for those that are interested there are a couple more of them... one in Hayward on Rt 27 right next to the Super * and Pastika's Bait Shop...

Mike -

Okay, can I make a crack about Dells? She's a computer person, she knows better than to use a Dell :).

How come others can make jokes but I can't?

Teri can stand up for herself Staci...I'm sure she'll let Mike know if she's bothered. It's all in the intent...and the intent has all been in fun. If I can weather the "bad kisser" post, anybody's fair game. Including you!! LOL

Have you not noticed that I just ignore Mike for the most part? I knew I was going to get some wisecracks about stopping at Beaver Springs on the way to Woman Lake.

Easy folks... more caffeine, its still early

I am on cup 3 so I am good to go. I wanted to clarify I was not being mean to Mike. He makes me laugh but I don't respond to egg him on....

We hit the Norske Nook everytime we pass there Dave is right the pie is fantastic.

Teri- my father in law fishes woman lake --- GREAT walleye lake from everything I've heard... right up by whitefish, where we slay the bass...

I don't wanna be ignored. I wanna be loved and respected. Okay, at least I don't wanna be ignored. This 9 month old in my lap could ignore me if she wanted, but NOOOOOOO... she cries when daddy puts her down. She just doesn't understand the need to talk fishing (and stuff).
