Anyone know if it's possible to hook my Lowrance 522C to my cobra marine radio. I have a radio interface cable from the radio manufacturer but it's just a plug with two wires. The radio is made to send a distress call giving gps co ordinates. My marine guy at Bass Pro doesn't know either. My Gps is a 522C Lowrance. It has a two sets of wires for hooking stuff up but man I'm at a loss. Read the stinking manual but just can't get er don.

They can be hooked up via the NMEA 0183 wiring. It should be found on page 34 of your book, along with a wiring diagram (Yellow wire and Shield for transmit data). Here is a little snipit from the Lowrance website download page, found here:

NMEA 0183 Wiring

(Data cable)

To exchange NMEA 0183 data, this unit has one NMEA 0183 version

2.0 communication port. Com port one (Com-1) can be used to receive

NMEA format GPS data. The com port can also transmit NMEA format

GPS data to another device.

Simple wiring and setup. If you were local, I'd do it for... uhhh.... one IBC Rootbeer.

Hope this helps.

All the best,

Glenn
