I'm stunned! Last weekend I went out to get my PT175 ready for a trip to my favorite lake. As I usually do I unplugged my onboard Guest ChargePro 2611. I usually connect my waterhose to my lower-end with the adapter and run the engine for about 5-minutes before I head to the lake. I do this to head-off any problems before I'm launched and have the problems. I couln't get the engine to start. I checked the batteries, they were low on water. I refilled them and plugged in the charger. Nothing happened. No lights, nothing! I had just been to the lake about a month and a half before, and everything was fine. Any suggestions as to what may have happened? I'm going to go to the Guest website and see about getting my unit checked out. It is 5-years old. Came with the boat in the 1998 PT175 Anniversary Edition. I have the batteries on charge with the charger I use for my lawn mower/car batteries. They seem to be coming up.Any suggestions? This is the second time I've had to post on this site, and the feedback solved my other problem. This is the best site. I've headed off some problems by just reading the posts from others who've had problems. This is a great site!

I'd check to see if there's a fuse on the charger. My bet is that the lack of water caused the battery to overheat (boiling the acid and making more leave) and the charger got hot and blew a fuse.

Make sure you use DISTILLED water on batteries. Tap water has impurities that can wreak havoc on a battery, shortening the life considerably.

Mike, the only fuses on the charger are inline on the positive sides of the battery connect lines. The charger is completely sealed. I tried emailing Guest at their website, but the email was returned as an invalid address. I cleaned both of the fuse holders on the battery connect lines, both the fuses were ok. I'm not sure, but a friend who also has the same charger on his Tracker says that at least the red led should light when not connected to anything. I'm still going to give Guest a try about returning the unit for service..Thanks for the reply!

Me, Thanks for the phone number. The email address to contact Guest is defunct. I'll try to make the call tomorrow. I need to find out what to do about getting my charger repaired as the fall season is about ready to start here in Western North Carolina.
