Looking at anchoring options for the 180tf. I do have a 15# that I throw by hand, but was looking for something more automated. I really don't want to drill any holes in the glass to mount an Anchormate or a Minn kota Deckhand. I have some ideas for a temprorary permanent system, but what to hear other ideas first.

Don -

On both my old Nitro180 and my current Nitro2000 I have used 18# fluted anchors attached to 50' of rope. The rope is NOT poly; just a typical braided rope. I think it's 3/8"? I wrap the rope on an H-shaped winding reel ment for ski rope. I also carry a 12# fluted anchor to throw off the stern when I need to anchor more securely in a wind.

Originally, on the 180, I had installed a stainless Anchormate. I hung the arm over the right side of the bow and mounted the winch next to the trolling motor foot pedal on the deck.

Cranking the anchor up took longer and proved to be more of a pain than it was worth, so I went back to the old tried and true method!

me!

P.S. I use the heavier rope because it's MUCH easier to hold on to and pull up.

Don - I've got the Stainless Anchormate on my 175, had the dealer install it. While it does take up a little bit of space on the front, it is well worth it if you use it much. I anchor in coves in the summer with the family to swim, use it on the river for trout and on the lakes for Stripers and cats! LOVE IT!

On my old boat (14ft Jon boat) I used a 5lb mushroom anchor with a milk crate as storage for the rope and anchor.

What applications are you thinking of to use it for?

I have the electric anchormate with an 18 lb. weight and it works great! Especially if your by yourself...I bought it used for $60 and they sell new for $189....good deal!

Trep, I just wanted something more automated without drilling holes in my glass. Thats just the kind of guy I am LOL

An anchor! Actually a navy type anchor, 15 lbs with 100' of 2500 lb test nylon anchor rope. Sometimes you need more rope let out to get the angle needed to get a good grab with the anchor. That can be tough in 35' with only 50' of rope.

i used my partner this year,........carried his dead weight butt all year!! LOL
