Since it's not open bass season yet, went to my Mother-in-Laws place to do a little "casting" practice, and figured if I hook a pike or two, cool. Got there around 1:00 yesterday afternoon, only had about half an hour, and it started to rain. Only took 3 poles down to the lake with me, one w/ carolina rigged ring worm, one w/ jerkbait, one with a watermelon tender tube. Grabbed the c-rig, reeled up the slack, and something felt "funny". Guess I shouldn't have rigged that one in the dark. Ran the line thru the side of the top guide instead of thru the opening. "@$#%&!". Put it down and grabbed the jerkbait. Cast, twitch twitch pause, twitch twitch SNAG! "&*^$!". Put it down, grabbed the spinning rod with the tube. Made 2 casts, caught a 14" Largemouth on the second. Third cast nothing. Fourth cast, drag, reel, drag, HAMMERED!! loosened the drag, and managed to coax in a 6# Largehead! That's the second time in 2 years I've caught the same "BIG MOMMA". Kissed her, and let her go. 19.75" long and 16" around. Scale don't work (gotta get me a new digital one), but using the length x girth x girth divided by 800 formula (seems to work), I get 6.32#! BTW, this was from shore! Who need's a boat. Well, I do, but that's beside the point!
