Well, we couldnt.

After the pictures from Florida, the darn fish-o-mercials, we just could not take it any longer.

We went fishing.

14 degrees out, starting to snow, but darnnit we went anyway. (I know, you northern boys would call that a heat wave!)

Didn't catch nothin. But we got to test our new 7' Ultralite poles and McCoy line.

We got our lines wet, that's all that really matters, and we had fun doin' it!

Looks a bit cool to me!! I was not able to go and play today as I was in the basement doing the ceiling. I am now stepple qualified.

went today also and it was cold. a couple of the bays and creeks i like to fish were still frozen. after about 2 hrs with no bites, i had enough. it was good to get out also. i found out it only got up to 35 deg today. next wk looks good w/next sat at 60 deg.

How'd you like the McCoy line? I've got some coming (today), and will be fishing weekend after next in a federation tourney.

Is that open water?????? Dang, ain't seen that in over a month around here!

Texas...

We used the 6# test on the spinning reels... had alot of memory/twists right off the bat.

I musta spooled it up wrong. (I did it in kinda a hurry)

It casted real well, right up until the ice in the guides slowed it down.

Cold temps will cause more memory in your line too. It really stiffens the line.

Thanks Rob, I'll keep that in mind as well.

Except for the twists, I think the line will be good. I aint gonna write it off on one experience... too many others swear by it.

In the past, I've been very happy with spiderwire fusion on my spinning reels for castability and line twist. However, it has a few drawbacks that I'm not fond of. Tends to fray some near the terminal tackle, after awhile. Very thin (both good and bad).

I bought a new spinning combo (bps rig) last fall, and was trying it out in the back yard with a plug. After 1 cast, I quickly removed the mono that was on the reel. BAAAAD. I put on some XL line, and tried it. I don't think I got it spooled up very well, so I made several very long casts down the hill, and reeled it back in. Got better.

I have the fever so bad I'm ready to go drag a scum frog across the ice.I'm hoping for some decent weather this weekend so I can go to the tailraces and fish for trout. It draws out of the dam about 60 feet down so it never freezes. It's not bass fishin' but it will have to do.

OK help me out here Sim - Great pic's but I don't see NO ice on the water??? Why aren't you and Princess Sim in that 901???

I'm in Boulder all week, if you see me on ST give me a holler!!

Let's see trep...

14 degrees, north wind, snow storm on the way, snowing when we got there (not much, but it was there).

This lake has _never_ frozen over, it averages 150 feet deep, up to about 225 at the dam. The ramp here goes from ramp to 70 feet in about 15 feet.

No way would I have tried to launch my 901. Now, launching your little tin boat? Sure thing...!

Here is a picture of the ramp we went to:

Trep, have fun in Boulder... will look for you on Connect...

Great pic's Sim!!! Yup that would be a problem geting that HEAVY 901 up a ramp!!! HAAA

But you and the wife have the right idea, get out when you can!

Looks liek the ramp that Tox cleaned up soem for me so that I could launch my boat also. Was a bit mroe steep then that though.
