On other boats I have owned I usually used Mothers Carnuba wax. I have a good friend who uses Bsss Boat Saver, any comments from others who use this? Also, what are the reasons I should steer clear of waxing the bottom other than it is a pain in the rear? All of you boat owners have been a great help, I always look forward to reading each post. This is my first bass boat, others were fish and ski. Thanks for the input.

I have always regular waxes on my boats. Turtle, maguiars, you name it. My prior boat, i had from 1997 - 2003, and the gelcoat looked like the day i bought it. I use the quick wax alot of the times as well, just to make it look purdy. Paste, liquid, it has never made a difference to me. And yes, waxing under the hull is a PITA, and though i try to keep it waxed as good as i can, i figure, if someone leans down to check to see if its clean, my boots gonna meet their rearend :p Hope this helps. Jim

Personally i use both a wax and bass boat saver. My wax of choice is mothers carnuba hard type that comes in a can. I user BBS for cleanups after i pull out of the water. BBS is good stuff but i dont beleive its a replacement for wax.

Dont wax the running surface, the wax will make your boat slower.

Actually, you can use BBS instead of wax, it has wax in it. What you don't get from car wax or other carnuba waxes is UV protection, BBS has that. Also BBS can be used on your seats and plastic parts as well. BBS is also a cleaner and will take blood, dirt and dye out of your carpet. I would use a base coat of a polymer based wax i.e., Maguires NXT, then follow up with BBS.

I use a basecoat of Mothers in the winter time, then use BBS for the most part the rest of the year.

I have been using BTS and love it I emailed the company and asked about using a wax and they said it designed to use without a wax,wax actually would take away the protection.

Hey guys, I am a pro staff for BTS. and bassfisher is right, it can replace wax. It is a polymer blend that cleans the pores of the gel and protects it. Like sun screen for your boat. There are many fine products like waxes and polishes, etc. I like BTS because it is WAAAAAY easier to apply than wax, and I can do it in the sun. Once on I don't have to reapply but every month or so where as BBS you apply every time out which is fine too if you want to do that. You can use BTS on your vinyl, plastics, motor, dash, trailer, TM, and many many other uses. let me know if you have any questions or would like to try some. check it out for yourself at btsproducts.com.

Ok I have never used or heard of BTS, thought it was a typo for BBS! What is it and what is their web-site?

Randy!

BTS is Bow To Stern. An all-in-one protectant that has many uses. Made by the same company that makes KVD Line and Lure Conditioner. Brings back old deep color from gel coat. It is not a wax, but used as a replacement to wax. All answers can be found at www.btsproducts.com. any other questions, let me know. If interested in some, email me at [email protected]

thanks

So Derek,

Is it the same stuff as in the KVD line and lure conditioner? (Sorry - just a joke). In all honesty, I was a little disappointed with the KVD stuff. I've used Blakemores Reel Magic for years, and decided to try the KVD stuff a while back. I'm back to using Blakemores. I just find it works so much better and was less messy. The KVD stuff seemed like it left a residue on everything.

The reason I like BBS is that it's a quick spray and wipe down when I pull my boat out. Does BTS do the same, or is it not something that you use every time you pull the boat out? If you don't use it every time you pull your boat out, what do you wipe off the scum line, water spots and drops of scent (KickNBass, etc...) that dribbled on the topcap with? My boat is white with a black hull - I need something that works excellent. So far, BBS has been working fantastic, but I'm not opposed to trying something new.

All the best,

Glenn

BBS is a good product too. Very similar, but different. BBS contains carnuba wax, BTS does not have any wax in it. You pointed out one thing that favors BTS. You do NOT need to apply every time you pull out of the water like you do with BBS. It is not a cleaner. I just use a damp microfiber cloth and wipe it down when I am done. Because the BTS was applied before you went out, the grime and scum etc. wipes right off. Also works great for bugs on your tow vehicle. Since you only have to apply once a month or so, BTS lasts you a lot longer.

On another note, I have not had any of the issues with the kvd as you have. Please take a moment to read here. http://www.lineandlure.com/info/thedifference/ concerning Reel Magic.

I actually soak mine so much it runs all over, nothing there after I let dry.

Thanks guys, keep the questions coming ;)
