Got a surprise while having my boat out fishing this past weekend. I took off and was running about 5000 RPM then got this warm sensation on my legs from under the console. It was water spraying from a small hole in a tube that I assume is going to the water pressure gauge. Well I shut down, dried and used electrical tape to temp mend it and I guess that worked cause I had no more water leaking. So on the the questions, would this be a gauge, tube or pressure issue? More worried about a pressure issue than anything else considering it's a 6 month old Merc. 115 ProXS. I checked while running at various RPM and the PSI was registering up to 28. Thanks in advance!!!

That happened to me as well when I first got my boat. I put it back on and kept an eye on it. That was 13 years ago. Never a problem.

hose popped off the back of the gauge.

has happend to me on almost every new boat seems somehow they take a few times being used untill they set in place for good.

Just put a tiewrap on it or a small clamp.

could be the water pressure or speedo.

Thanks for the advice. Anyone know what PSI that 115ProXS should be running at WOT?

You wanna hear a funny "loose hose story!?" OMG. I picked up my "then" brand new 190DC from my local dealer and took it to a lake for the shake down cruise,....idled out into the main lake and put it up on plane. Was cruising along about 3000rpm's and checking out the guages, tach, speedo, etc..etc...and all the sudden the speedo went from 40-45mph to ZERO....and that same second i felt ice cold water getting shot directly into my junk!!:eek::blink: It looked like I pee'd my pants!!! I stopped the boat,..reattached the speedo hose at the back of the guage and took off again. Went 100yds and the same thing happened!! WTH?!:angry: Grabbed a tie wrap out of my tool box,..made the connection again,...zip-tied it snug and it never came off again.....but it was 45 minutes before my pants were dry enough to be able to go back to the ramp and put it on the trailer.....Homey wasn't gonna take a chance of walking across the parking lot with a wet spot the size of a dinner plate!! :eek::rolleyes: Man what a good decision that was too...as soon as I pulled into the dock to tie up,...a dude and his girlfriend showed up to launch their boat. That was close!!!:blink:

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: Mac!!! :lol::lol:

I can relate! After a few loose speedo tubes I found that if I warmed the end of the hose up a good bit with a lighter and then push it on it'll stay locked on tight, no zip tie needed. It cools down and shrinks to it, hugging the barb. ;)
